Leelanau's Wanted suspect surrenders

For the second time in two days, a suspect shown on the Leelanau's Wanted page of this blog has been arrested.  Victor H. Zavala, 25, Grand Rapids, surrendered at the Leelanau County jail on Thursday evening.  He was wanted on two bench warrants for failing to appear for Assault and Battery sentencing and show cause on Operating Without Security.

Zavala is held without bond on the A&B charge and has a $1000 bond on the no insurance case.

Leelanau deputies arrest afternoon drunk driver

An alert motorist notified Leelanau Dispatch about an erratic driver at 5:45 pm Thursday.  The driver was southbound on S West Bay Shore Dr. from Leelanau Sands Casino.  Leelanau deputies located the vehicle in Suttons Bay village and made contact with the 28 year-old Traverse City woman.

She admitted to consuming alcohol at the casino but said that she was not trying to drive drunk.  She failed field sobriety tasks administered and was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated Second Offense.  She was given a Datamaster breath test at the Leelanau County jail with .09% result.

She remains jailed until bond is set by the magistrate Friday.
