Cold Temperatures Making Many Roadway Extremely Slick

The Leelanau County Sheriff's office would ask motorist to take extra precautions when driving over the next several days.  With the weather continuing to be extremely cold the road surfaces are icy on many of the heavily traveled roadways.  Cherry Bend Road, South Lake Leelanau Drive, West Bay Shore Drive and East Duck Lake Road all have areas that are very slippery.  Our Office continues to respond to traffic accidents and numerous vehicles that have slid off the roadway.  We ask the motoring public to take a few extra minutes in their travels and use reduced speeds to make sure everyone is safe out on the roadways.
