Elmwood traffic stop results in High BAC arrest
Leelanau County deputies stopped a vehicle on S. West Bay Shore Drive near Crain Hill Road at 12:21 am Saturday after it almost struck a guardrail. The 32 year-old Lake Leelanau man admitted to drinking before driving and failed field sobriety tasks that were administered. He was arrested for Operating while Intoxicated.His Datamaster breath test result was .23% and he was charged with OWI with a High Blood Alcohol Count >.17%. The man was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a District Court appearance Friday.
Driver arrested for driving with a Mexican driver's license
A 38 year-old Suttons Bay Township man was arrested for never having obtained a valid driver's license. He was stopped for erratic driving on S. West Bay Shore Drive near Deer Path in Suttons Bay Township at 10:16pm Saturday.The driver said he had never obtained a driver's license and was then taken into custody. Another law enforcement agency has placed a hold on the man so he remains lodged in the Leelanau County jail.
