Freezing rain, slushy roads and high winds create concerns

Another blast of winter weather has made Leelanau County roads a challenge once again.  Not only has there been freezing rain and several inches of slushy accumulation, but there were 10 reports of trees down in the roadway across the county beginning Thursday night.  The road hazards have all been removed by area fire departments and the Leelanau Road Commission.

Motorists are asked to continue to use caution as winter weather drags on just a bit longer.  Snow plows were out early Friday morning making all roads passable but still slushy in spots.  All county schools were cancelled Friday due to the slushy and icy road conditions.
