Cedar man arrested for drunk driving

A 44 year-old Cedar man was stopped for a traffic violation on W. Traverse Highway near Angus Rd. at 9:41pm Tuesday.  The Leelanau deputy discovered signs of intoxication and field sobriety tasks were conducted.  The driver was then arrested for Operating while Intoxicated.  His Datamaster breath test results were .16% and he remains jailed pending bond being set.

Tornado Exercise held at Lake Leelanau St. Mary's today

A planned tornado disaster exercise coordinated by the Leelanau County Emergency Management was held Wednesday at Lake Leelanau St. Mary's school.  It is an annual exercise which was held at Northport School last year.

Multiple county fire agencies and law enforcement participate, with students participating as injury victims to add realism to the exercise.  The event is monitored and critiqued by Emergency Management experts to maximize performance of all first responders to an actual disaster.
