Driver Cited for Transporting Open Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle

A Leelanau County Sheriff's Deputy patrolling Manitou Trail just east of Maple City Road on 6/14/13, at 2301hrs, stopped a white SUV which had a headlight out.  The driver was identified as a 66yr old woman from Cedar. While speaking with the driver the deputy observed a can of Miller High Life beer in the cup holder of the center console.  The beer can which was half full was confiscated and the contents poured out. The driver was determined not to be above the legal limit to drive but she as cited for transporting a open container of alcohol in her vehicle.

A report was sent to the Prosecutor's Office for review.
