Lake Leelanau woman arrested for failing to appear

She was given a notice to appear after blood alcohol results were received and  the case was reviewed by the Leelanau County Prosecutor's Office.  Atkinson remains jailed pending bond being set by the magistrate.

Stolen plate being used in Chicago

A Leland Township woman came to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office Tuesday to report that she is getting collection notices from the Chicago Parking Authority.  The tickets are being written on a plate that was registered to her in 2010.  The vehicle that the plate was on was repossessed and the plate was never returned to her.

It is unknown how the plate got to Illinois or who is using it illegally.  What is known is that it's now improperly on a Honda CRV that is illegally parked on many occasions.

Deputies are trying to straighten out the matter with the tow company, the financial institution that had the vehicle repossessed and the Chicago Parking Authority.
