Identity theft attempt reported

A Kasson Township resident was glad to have purchased Lifelock identity theft protection.  The victim called the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office Wednesday to report that Lifelock had informed the victim that someone in Plymouth Michigan had tried to order cable television service using the victim's identifiers.

The identity theft attempt was thwarted thanks to the service.  Leelanau County deputies will be in contact with law enforcement in Plymouth for investigative assistance.  Identity Theft is a five year felony.

Peshawbestown man arrested for illegal entry

A 33 year-old man on probation for Larceny in a Building was arrested Tuesday for illegally entering an ex-girlfriend's home in Peshawbestown.  The woman called 911 at 9:50 pm after she was awakened by a loud noise and found her ex-boyfriend in her home.  She told Grand Traverse Band Tribal Police that the man left but there was an open window that she believes he entered through.

Tribal Police went to the suspect's residence in Peshawbestown and found him face down in the front yard.  He appeared to be passed out and was arrested.  Alcohol was a factor in the incident and the suspect refused a preliminary breath test offered at the jail.

The man remains jailed on $1,000 cash bond pending a Tribal Court appearance.

Recent jail bookings in Leelanau County

Amanda S. Sawmick, 30, of Suttons Bay, was jailed for a Tribal Court bond violation when she registered "hot" at a court-ordered preliminary breath test.  She was sentenced to jail until October 16 for the violation.

Bradley D. Ashcraft, 23, of Traverse City, was jailed for 3 days for Contempt of Court on a Providing False Information to Police conviction. 

Leroy J. Hall, 18, of Traverse City, was arrested in Isabella County on a Leelanau County warrant for Fleeing and Eluding/ 3rd Degree and Driving While License Suspended.  He will appear in District Court Friday.

Anthony C. Palumbo, 57, of Traverse City, was arrested in Grand Traverse County on a Leelanau County warrant for being a Disorderly Person/ Drunk.  He will also appear in District Court Friday.
