Elmwood Township man arrested for sexual assault

A 36 year-old man was arrested on a Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct charge Wednesday after a Leelanau County Sheriff's Office investigation.  He is accused of having sexual contact with a child less than 13 years old in 2008 at his residence.  The child was not a stranger to the suspect and disclosed the assault in early 2013.

CSC II carries a maximum 15 year penalty.  The suspect remains held in the Leelanau County jail pending a District Court appearance Friday.

Kent County man arrested on 2010 warrant

Jose Manuel Galvan-Porras was arrested in Kent County on a Leelanau County bench warrant Wednesday.  He was wanted after failing to comply with daily breath tests following a 2010 Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense arrest.  Galvan-Porras, 28 of Grand Rapids, was arrested after rolling his vehicle on Horn Road north of E Duck Lake Road in July 2010.  He was arrested for OWI II and had a Datamaster breath test result of .19%.

Galvan-Porras remains held without bond in the Leelanau County jail pending a Friday District Court appearance.
