Charges sought in embezzlement case

An embezzlement investigation has been turned over to the Leelanau County Prosecutor's office involving the theft by an employee at an Elmwood Township business.  The manager of the company called the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office Monday to report she believed an employee stole $100.  She provided video surveillance which supported her belief.

A deputy interviewed the 44 year-old suspect who admitted to taking the money.  Embezzlement under $200 is a 93 day misdemeanor.


Suspended driver ticketed

Deputies stopped a 29 year-old driver on Cherry Bend Road near Sylvia St. in Elmwood Township Monday at 9:50 am.  A license check with the Secretary of State showed that her privileges had been restricted and that she was driving outside of the restrictions.  She was ticketed for Driving with a Suspended License and given a District Court appearance date.


Suttons Bay man arrested on Kent County warrant

David D. Weese was arrested Monday by Leelanau County deputies on a Kent County Friend of the Court bench warrant.  Weese, 23, was taken to the Leelanau County jail until he was able to post bond later in the day.


Dock section washed up on Little Glen shoreline

A resident on the east end of Day Forest Road reported to Leelanau Dispatch Monday that a 6 foot section of dock washed up on their shoreline.  If you know who is missing the dock section call dispatch at 231-256-8800.
