Afternoon drunk driver arrested by MSP

A 75 year-old Cedar man is free on bond following his arrest Monday after driving off into the sand and getting stuck.  A citizen reported that the man had driven off Lake Michigan Road near Bohemian in Cleveland Township at 4:41 pm.  A Michigan State Police trooper responded and discovered the man had been drinking prior to driving into the ditch. He made an admission to drinking, failed field sobriety tasks and was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.  His Datamaster blood alcohol result was .11%. 


Felony stalking probationer jailed

Melonie C. Baker was given 3 days in jail for contempt of court Monday.  Baker, 43 of Suttons Bay, is being supervised for 60 months following a guilty plea to Aggravated Stalking in December 2012.  


Elk Rapids woman arrested on Leelanau County warrant

A 19 year-old woman was arrested in Mecosta County Monday on a Leelanau County bench warrant.  Leelanau County corrections officers picked up Marie I. Mariani who failed to appear for a pre-sentence appointment in September 2012.  She pleaded guilty to Assault & Battery charges earlier in a Grand Traverse Band police case.  Mariani is being held without bond pending a district court appearance Friday.
