Domestic violence arrest made Wednesday morning
A 26 year-old Elmwood Township man was arrested for Domestic Violence and Interfering with Electronic Communications Wednesday. The man's wife called 911 shortly after 7 am to report that she and her husband were arguing about finances and she had been assaulted. She also told Leelanau Dispatch that he had taken the phone from her and ended a previous 911 call.The man posted bond and appeared in 86th District Court Thursday. He remains free on bond with an order of no contact with his wife.
Two more grass fires reported
Dry conditions resulted in 2 more grass fires being reported to local fire departments. Elmwood Fire Department was assisted by Suttons Bay Fire Department in extinguishing a grass fire on Lincoln Road west of Bugai Road at 1:30 pm Wednesday.A truck contacted an overhead power line which resulted in the fire and the accident was investigated by Michigan State Police. A power outage occurred in Elmwood Township as a result of the grass fire but power was restored within two hours.
A second grass fire happened on Fritz Road in Kasson Township. Cedar Fire Department extinguished a large grass fire near a home there. There were no structures damaged or injuries as a result of the blaze. The incident was investigated by the county DNR conservation officer.
Stolen firewood reported
Leelanau County deputies are investigating the report of 6 cords of firewood that were stolen from property on N. Scott Road in Leelanau Township. The wood was taken in the last 2-3 weeks. A pedal boat was found washed up on the shore of Big Glen Lake Wednesday. It is a Sun Dolphin 5-6 foot craft with no identification numbers on it. If you know the owner of this property call Leelanau Dispatch at 256-8800.Woman arrested for probation violation
Nicole L. Taylor, 36, Suttons Bay, was arrested in Grand Traverse County Wednesday on a probation violation bench warrant. She failed to appear at a hearing to determine why she had not paid $433.60 as ordered by the court.Taylor appeared in District Court today and was released with credit for time served and the understanding that the outstanding $433.60 will be paid by May 31, 2013.
