Break-in defendant jailed for bond violation

One of the two men arrested for breaking into a Cedar business has been arrested for violating bond.  Scott A. Johnston, 21, of Traverse City, surrendered Thursday after learning there was a bench warrant for his arrest.  Johnston failed to appear for daily breath tests and a random drug screen as ordered in his conditions of bond. He remains jailed without bond until he appears in Circuit Court.

Johnston was arrested with Cole Rancour, 23, of Traverse City, on September 16 for breaking into the Blue Moon Ice Cream Shop in Cedar.  Rancour remains free on $5,000/ 10% bond pending his next Circuit Court appearance.



Domestic assault investigated

Leelanau County Sheriff's deputies investigated a Domestic Assault report which occurred in Suttons Bay Township Wednesday evening.  It involved a mother and her 16 year-old son. 

No details of the investigation will be released at this time.  The case has been turned over to the Leelanau County Prosecutor for review of potential criminal charges.
