SB man headed back to New Jersey on probation violation

Grand Traverse Band police arrested Joaquin Alfonseca Wednesday on a probation violation out of New Jersey.  Authorities there will extradite Alfonseca, 57, for violating conditions of his probation after being convicted on dangerous drugs charges.

Alfonseca remains jailed without bond pending his return to New Jersey by officers there.

Felony drunk driver arrested on bench warrant

A 44 year-old Lake Leelanau man is back in jail after he failed to appear for arraignment following a 3rd Offense OWI arrest.  Thomas F. Daugherty was arrested in Allen Park on a bench warrant and was transported back to Leelanau County by corrections officers Wednesday.

Daugherty was arrested by Leelanau County Sheriff's deputies on August 10 after his erratic driving attracted the attention of a fellow motorist who called 911 to report the suspected drunk driver.  He remains jailed without bond pending his arraignment and bond review.

OWI probationer jailed

A Suttons Bay man arrested on New Year's Eve for drunk driving is back in jail on a probation violation.  John H. Chippewa, 45, was arrested by Grand Traverse Band police Wednesday on the District Court bench warrant.  He is accused of consuming alcohol in violation of the terms of his probation. 

Chippewa remains jailed without bond pending a District Court appearance Friday.
