Maple City man arrested after early evening crash

A 56 year-old Kasson Township man was taken to jail after he drove his vehicle into a ditch on Newman Road Monday.  Leelanau Dispatch was called at 7:14 pm and advised of the crash.  A Leelanau County deputy responded and determined that the man showed obvious signs of intoxication.  He was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and a blood test was performed at Munson Medical Center.  The man was uninjured in the crash and the vehicle sustained minor damage. 


Low flying helicopter flying in County

Wolverine Power reports that a helicopter is flying Monday and Tuesday over power lines in Leelanau County.  It is a green and tan Bell jet and will be over the County between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
