Home Invasion Suspect Arrested on Drug and Weapon Charges
A man suspected of breaking into an Elmwood Township home in February and stealing a handgun has been bound over to Circuit Court on drug and weapon charges. Tacha M. Milk, 29, of Traverse City, waived a preliminary examination in 86th District Court Friday in Suttons Bay. He is accused of selling 9 morphine pills to an undercover officer with the Traverse Narcotics Team in November 2012 in Elmwood Township. The criminal complaint says that Milk was also in possession of a handgun during the drug delivery.He was arrested last week in Grand Traverse County for possession of stolen property and weapons charges involving a handgun taken from an Elmwood Township residence. Milk is a suspect in the home invasion and the Leelanau County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case.
Milk remains jailed after being unable to post bond. Delivery of Morphine carries a 7 year maximum penalty and Felony Firearm possession a mandatory 2 year consecutive sentence.
Driver Arrested for Driving Impaired
A 57 year-old Traverse City man was arrested Thursday for Driving While Impaired. He was stopped by Leelanau deputies at 8:25 pm on S. West Bay Shore Drive in Elmwood Township. Field sobriety tasks were administered and the driver was arrested.Driving While Impaired 2nd Offense charges will be sought because of a prior conviction which resulted from a parking lot crash in Solon Township in August 2011. The driver remains jailed until bond is posted.
