Elmwood Couple Jailed for Mutual Domestic Violence

The Leelanau County Prosecutor's office issued misdemeanor domestic violence warrants for an Elmwood Township couple Wednesday.  Deputies from the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office assisted the Traverse City Police Department and child protective services workers from the Department of Human Services on Carter Road at 12:50 pm.

The arrests resulted after an investigation by TCPD.  After the 32 year-old man and 28 year-old woman were taken into custody, their two children were placed into temporary foster care pending Family Court action.  The arrestees remain in the Leelanau County jail pending bond hearings.

Domestic violence carries a maximum 90 day jail sentence and $500 fine.
