Numerous Tips Recieved in Pharmacy Break ins

Many tips have been received in response to the release of video surveillance of the suspect who broke into the Prescription Shop.  Authorities in Leelanau and Grand Traverse County believe the man is responsible for as many as 12 pharmacy break ins in which tens of thousands of dollars worth of narcotics were stolen.   The break ins began in December 2007 and the most recent one was in September 2012.  

Tips can be given anonymously at 877-256-8696, the Silent Observer Tip line 231-9470 TIPS (8477) or tips@co.leelanau.mi.us.  There is a reward up to $3,000 for information leading to the identification of the suspect. 

Investigators from both counties are following up on the tips that have been provided.

 

Detroit Man Jailed for Failing to Pay Child Support

A Detroit man was brought back to the Leelanau County Monday after being arrested in Brownstown Township in southern Wayne County.  Danny L. Merchant, 50, will serve 60 days in jail for failing to pay child support if he is not able to post $400 bond.
