The Leelanau County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect after a motor vehicle crash on South Lake Shore Drive near Sharnowski Road.
On Sunday, 11/24/13, at approximately 1510hrs, deputies responded to County Road 643, South Lake Shore Drive north of Sharnowski Road on a single vehicle accident. The vehicle, a 1998 Land Rover, was northbound on South Lake Shore Drive when it lost control leaving the roadway and rolling over. Upon arrival at the scene the deputies determined alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. An investigation showed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and that his 14yr old son was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The driver, a 46yr old man from Cedar, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and for child endangerment. His blood alcohol registered a .18% at the County Jail therefore he was also charged under the high BAC law. He was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
Neither the driver or his son were injured in the crash.
