FLEEING SUSPECT CAUGHT
A 26 year old Suttons Bay man was arrested after a lengthy foot chase by Grand Traverse Band Tribal officers. Neegonquet Fox ran from officers who were trying to arrest him on misdemeanor probation violation charges at 10:30 am yesterday. Fox ran west from Grand Traverse Band housing on Peshawbestown Road. Deputies from the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office and the Suttons Bay Police chief created a perimeter to prevent the suspect from eluding capture. Fox was arrested without resistance after an approximate 15 minute foot chase. He is lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
DRUNK DRIVER ARRESTED
An 81 year old Solon Township man was arrested for operating while intoxicated at 1:07 pm yesterday. A citizen called Leelanau County Dispatch to report the suspect driving erratically and in the wrong lane. A Leelanau County officer located the vehicle on Cedar Rd. south of Cedar and determined the driver was operating intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and lodged on operating while intoxicated.
SEARCH NETS EVIDENCE
Deputies from Leelanau County Sheriff's officers assisted detectives from Traverse City Police Department and Grand Traverse County yesterday in Solon Township. Detectives had a search warrant for the residence of a breaking and entering suspect. The search netted evidence related to a breaking and entering at Pleva's Meats on December 17, 2012. Over $500 in cash was stolen in the break in. All cases remain under investigation and no arrests have been made.
2 CAR CRASH LANDS DRIVER IN JAIL
A two car crash in Solon Township resulted in one driver being arrested for driving without a license. The accident happened at 3:34 pm on W. Traverse Highway near Solon Rd. No injuries were reported but when deputies checked the driving status of a 20 year old man from New Mexico it was learned that he had not acquired a driver's license and was operating the vehicle without security. The suspect was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
